How to connect: StarCharge

Requirements

  • Laptop with Ethernet port and cable, connected to the LAN port of the router in the unit

  • Laptop IP configured as 192.168.1.xxx where xxx is not 136, 200 or 201

  • Browser access to the web panel at 192.168.1.136 with the wbdh login

  • mini-SIM inserted in the 4G communication module when 4G is used

  • ChargePoint ID from Plugchoice and the Plugchoice backend split into domain, port and path

Connect your charger

Access the web panel:

  1. When using 4G, insert the SIM (mini-SIM) according to the location of the 4G communication module.

  2. Connect the LAN port of the router to the laptop with an Ethernet cable and set the laptop IP to 192.168.1.xxx (xxx can be any number but 136, 200, 201).

  3. Open the browser, go to 192.168.1.136 and log in with username wbdh and password Wbdh26835941.

Quick Setup:

  1. In Web-Quick Setup, enter the ChargePoint ID issued by Plugchoice and click Submit.

  2. In the OCPP part, fill the backend fields for Plugchoice:

  • IP or Domain Name: proxy.plugchoice.com

  • Port: 443 (the standard port for wss)

  • Path: /v1

  • SSL_Enable: enable (the value is enable when the backend uses TLS, and Plugchoice uses wss)

  1. Authorization key: if the backend does not use Basic authorization, leave it blank (no need to fill in most cases). Then click Submit in the OCPP part to confirm delivering the setting information to the backend.

  2. Certificate Import: load the CA certificate offered by the customer when using TLS; otherwise leave it blank.

Software setting:

  1. In Web-Software Setting, find Network priority, set the priority (default is Ethernet > 4G > WIFI) and click Submit. The same backend can also be edited later under CP Backend with fields URL, Path, Port, SSL_O (1 when the backend uses TLS, otherwise 0), Authorization key and Certificate Import.

After submitting the OCPP part (and the certificate only if one is used), the charger connects to Plugchoice.

Registering your charger in Plugchoice

  1. Add the charger using the chargepoint ID. In Web-Quick Setup, enter the ChargePoint ID and click Submit. Use the identity issued by Plugchoice.

Done! The charger should come online.

Troubleshooting

Did you set everything up correctly, but the charger still remains "Pre-registered"?

  • If the web panel does not load, verify the laptop IP is in 192.168.1.xxx and is not 136, 200 or 201.

  • SSL_Enable must be enable (and SSL_O = 1 on the CP Backend page) because the Plugchoice endpoint uses TLS (wss); with the wrong value the charger will not reach the backend.

  • Authorization key stays blank unless Basic authorization is used.

  • Certificate Import is only for a CA certificate offered for TLS; otherwise leave it blank.

  • If the charger uses the wrong uplink, check Network priority (default Ethernet > 4G > WIFI) under Web-Software Setting.
