How to connect: Ocular

Requirements

  • Unique OCPP identity for this charger (no duplicates on the backend)

  • Access to the charger's WiFi hotspot and browser-based configuration interface (per Ocular user manual)

Connect your charger

Prepare in Plugchoice:

  1. Create the charger in Plugchoice and note its charge point identity. It must be unique: the source warns the identity cannot be the same as any other OCPP charger on the backend.

Open the charger web interface:

  1. Access the browser-based configuration interface for the Ocular IQ per the instructions in the Ocular user manual. This usually involves connecting to the WiFi hotspot created by the charger.

Enter OCPP settings:

  1. In the charger interface open the User tab, Basic section, and set:

  • OCPP Server Domain: proxy.plugchoice.com

  • OCPP Server Port: 443

  • OCPP Server URL: /v1

  • OCPP Identity: the charge point identity from step 1

  • WSS: Enabled

  • Click Submit at the bottom of the page.

Verify:

  1. Check in Plugchoice that the charger reports as online, then test a remote start and stop and confirm the charger's LED or the EV shows charging begin and end.

The charger connects to Plugchoice over OCPP 1.6 and shows as online; a remote start and stop can then be verified.

Registering your charger in Plugchoice

  1. Add the charger using the chargepoint ID. Enter the charge point identity from Plugchoice in the OCPP Identity field. The source stresses it cannot be the same as any other OCPP charger connected to the backend, so keep it unique per charger.

Done! The charger should come online.
