Requirements
A Smappee EV Line charger (EV Wall, EV Base or EV One), installed and online
Login for the Smappee Dashboard — the account used when installing the charger. Use a laptop or desktop browser; the dashboard doesn't work on mobile.
The charger's serial number (on the charger and in the dashboard)
Good to know: Smappee chargers connect to Plugchoice through the Smappee cloud, so the OCPP URL is set in the Smappee Dashboard — not on the charger itself.
Connect your charger
Log into the Smappee Dashboard and open the charger's location. You can search by serial number (top right).
Open the Charger configuration card and go to 4 - Services > Activation method for charging sessions (click the edit symbol).
Select Authorized charging, then External e-mobility platform.
Enter the Plugchoice URL: ws://proxy.plugchoice.com/v1 and click Save.
Restart the charger to apply the new settings.
On older dashboard versions the setting is called Session activation method: click the pencil, then Swipe and charge > Public charging > Other CSMS and enter the same URL.
Registering your charger in Plugchoice
Add the charger using the chargepoint ID. For Smappee, this is the serial number prefixed with SMP_ (for example SMP_6111000123) — case sensitive.
Done! The charger should come online.
Troubleshooting
Did you set everything up correctly, but the charger still remains "Pre-registered"?
The chargepoint ID in Plugchoice must exactly match the serial number, including the SMP_ prefix.
Check the charger is online in the Smappee app or dashboard — the Plugchoice connection runs through the Smappee cloud, so the charger needs a working internet connection.
Restart the charger after saving the activation method; the setting only takes effect after a reboot.
Check the URL for typos and spaces: ws://proxy.plugchoice.com/v1 (no trailing slash).
Can't select External e-mobility platform or the URL isn't accepted? Contact Smappee support and mention you want to connect to Plugchoice.
