How to connect: ABB Terra AC

Connect an ABB Terra AC charger to Plugchoice using the ABB TerraConfig app.

Requirements

  • Internet connection (Wi-Fi, Ethernet or cellular)

  • The ABB TerraConfig app (iOS / Android) with a TerraConfig account

  • Bluetooth, within a few metres of the charger

  • For first-time setup: the PIN code sticker supplied with the charger

  • The charger's serial number (TACW…, on the barcode sticker on the side)

Connect your charger

In the TerraConfig app:

  1. Log into the TerraConfig app.

  2. New charger? Tap Configure a Charger, scan the upper barcode on the side of the charger (the serial number) and enter the PIN code from the sticker in the box. Already configured? Select the charger from the dashboard.

  3. Wait until the app connects to the charger via Bluetooth.

  4. Tap Firmware and update to the latest version.

  5. Tap Connections, set up the internet connection (Wi-Fi, Ethernet or cellular) and tap Confirm Configuration.

  6. Open the OCPP Server tab and turn on Enable External Server.

Option 1: Select Plugchoice from the server list

  1. Tap Available Servers, search for Plugchoice and tap Download.

  1. Tap Confirm Configuration, save, and restart the charger.

Option 2: Add Plugchoice as a custom server

  1. Not seeing Plugchoice in the list? Add it manually:

  2. Tap Custom server.

  3. Enter a name in Server Name (e.g. Plugchoice) and ws://proxy.plugchoice.com/v1 in Server URL.

  1. Tap Confirm Configuration, save, and restart the charger.

Also set Free vending to off. Charging sessions are authorized through Plugchoice. The internet indicator (second light from the bottom) flashes while connecting and turns solid once the charger is online.

Registering your charger in Plugchoice

  1. Add the charger using the chargepoint ID. For ABB Terra AC, this is the serial number (case sensitive).

Done! The charger should come online.

Troubleshooting

Did you set everything up correctly, but the charger still remains "Pre-registered"?

  • The chargepoint ID in Plugchoice must exactly match the serial number.

  • Used a custom server? Check the URL is exactly ws://proxy.plugchoice.com/v1, with no spaces or trailing slash. A custom server is stored on your device only.

  • Check the internet indicator: solid means online, flashing means still connecting.

  • Make sure the firmware is up to date before connecting.

  • After switching to Plugchoice, ABB's own ChargerSync app and portal no longer control the charger, this is normal.

  • Changed the OCPP server recently? Restart the charger and wait a few minutes.
