Requirements
A laptop and an ethernet (UTP) cable
The Kempower security key file (delivered separately by Kempower)
Physical access to the charger
Never share the security key publicly.
Connect your charger
Step 1: Set your laptop's IP address
Open your laptop's Network & Internet settings.
Click Change adapter options.
Right-click the ethernet adapter and select Properties.
Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties.
Set the IP address to
192.168.100.10.Set the subnet mask to
255.255.255.0.Click OK and close the window.
Step 2: Configure the charger
Disconnect the charger from the AC supply and wait 2 minutes before opening the covers.
Open the front cover and connect the ethernet cable to the RJ45 connector.
Power on the charger and connect the cable's other end to your laptop.
In a browser, go to
https://192.168.100.200:8443.Certificate warning? Click Advanced, then Accept the Risk and Continue.
Paste the full security key file (including headers) and click Login.
Go to Network. Disable wifi if it's enabled.
Using a SIM? Enable Legacy USB Modem and check the APN from your SIM provider.
Go to Settings > Connectivity & Integrations.
Enable OCPP 1.6 backend with the toggle.
In Endpoint URL, enter:
ws://proxy.plugchoice.com/v1Set Charge point identity to the charger's serial number.
Click Save and Sync.
Registering your charger in Plugchoice
Add the charger using the chargepoint ID. For Kempower, this is the serial number you set as charge point identity (case sensitive).
Done! The charger should come online.
Troubleshooting
Did you set everything up correctly, but the charger still remains "Pre-registered"?
The chargepoint ID in Plugchoice must exactly match the charge point identity.
No security key? Contact Kempower.
Check OCPP 1.6 backend is toggled on.
Using a SIM? Check the APN settings and the signal.
