How to connect: EVBox

Connect your EVBox Gen 3 or Gen 4 charger to Plugchoice via OCPP using the EVBox Connect app.

Requirements

  • An EVBox Gen 3 or Gen 4 charger (Gen 1, 2 and 5 are not supported)

  • The EVBox Connect app and the charger's security code (in the packaging)

  • Firmware v425 or later

Good to know: the item number on the charger's sticker shows the generation. Gen 3 starts with B3322-5, Gen 4 with B3322-E.

Connect your charger

EVBox Gen 4 (BusinessLine Gen 4, Elvi)

In the EVBox Connect app:

  1. Open the app and select your charger.

  2. Enter the security code and tap Authorize.

  3. Tap Installer mode.

  4. Enter the security code again and tap Continue.

  5. Older firmware? Update it first via Update Firmware.

  6. Enable Set charger to online.

  7. Tap Charging Management Platform.

  8. Select Different backend URL.

  9. Enter ws://proxy.plugchoice.com/v1 and tap Save, then Select.

  10. Tap Save, then Reboot the charging station.

EVBox Gen 3 (BusinessLine, HomeLine)

Gen 3 chargers can't be configured via the app. An installer connects on-site with the EVBox service tool. Ask your installer if they have it.

Registering your charger in Plugchoice

  1. Add the charger using the chargepoint ID. For EVBox, this is the station ID starting with EVB- (on the charger's sticker and in the Connect app). It's case sensitive.

Done! The charger should come online.

Troubleshooting

Did you set everything up correctly, but the charger still remains "Pre-registered"?

  • The chargepoint ID in Plugchoice must exactly match the station ID.

  • Update the firmware to v425 or later.

  • Check that Set charger to online is enabled.

  • Reboot the charger after saving the new backend URL.

  • Gen 1, Gen 2 and Gen 5 (Livo, Liviqo) chargers can't connect.
