Requirements
A Tesla Universal Wall Connector.
Internet connection (2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only, not 5 GHz).
Owner access to the charger in the Tesla app.
Good to know: only the Tesla Universal Wall Connector supports OCPP. The Gen 3 and Gen 3 MID Wall Connectors do not, and cannot connect to Plugchoice.
Connect your charger
In the Tesla app:
Open the Tesla app and select your Wall Connector.
Open the charger's settings.
Enable the OCPP option.
Enter the OCPP server URL: ws://proxy.plugchoice.com/v1
Set the charge point ID to the charger's serial number.
Save the settings.
The charger connects to Plugchoice. This can take a few minutes; a restart speeds it up.
Registering your charger in Plugchoice
Add the charger using the chargepoint ID. For Tesla, this is the serial number (case sensitive).
Done! The charger should come online.
Troubleshooting
Set everything up but the charger still shows "Pre-registered"?
The chargepoint ID must exactly match the serial number.
Confirm OCPP is enabled and the server URL is exact.
Check the charger is online on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
Gen 3 and Gen 3 MID do not support OCPP and cannot connect.
For a complete guide, see our article if your charger can't connect to Plugchoice.
