Using Autostart

Autostart explained and how to set it up.

Autostart is a setting per charger. When it is on, the charger starts charging as soon as you plug in the car, without a card or the app.

This is useful because you don't need to scan your card anymore. As anyone can use your charger when Autostart is on, you may want to combine it with Lock charger.

How to set Autostart

First, you have to add a card to the location. A session is always booked on a card, so with Autostart the charger starts as if the card you pick was presented.

App

Go to Chargers > Authorization. Under Who can charge?, choose Autostart, then pick the card under Sessions booked on.

To switch it off, choose Card or app. The charger then needs a card or the app to start charging.

Web portal

Go to Chargers > [your charger] > Settings > General. Switch on Autostart and choose the card under Card.

To switch it off, switch off Autostart. The charger then needs a card or the app to start charging.

You need data access to the location. If an operator settles the costs for this charger, the card must also be registered with that operator.

Frequently asked

Will my automatic billing still work?

Usually yes. If an operator bills the sessions on this charger, it bills them on the card you pick, so pick a card that the operator knows.

Can anyone use my charger when it has Autostart?

Yes. If that worries you, use Lock charger while you're away.

Why do I need to add a card with Autostart?

A session is always booked on a card. Without one, the charger cannot see who is charging, and an operator or lease company needs it to settle the costs. That also applies if you do no billing at all. You can add a card with any RFID card your charger's card reader accepts.

My charging stops immediately, why?

The card you picked is probably not known by the operator that bills this charger. Make sure the operator knows and accepts the card.
