App guide for end-users

Learn how to use the Plugchoice app for your charger.

In this guide, you'll learn about all the ins and outs of the Plugchoice app.

Getting access to your charger

Download the app here and create your account. You can sign up with your email address, Google or Apple.

Your charger is linked to an address, called a location. Your installer should have invited you already to join the location: scan their QR code or tap the link in your email. Sign in with the email address the invitation was sent to. With Apple's Hide My Email, Apple gives you a different address and the invitation does not reach that account.

Menu layout

The Overview tab contains information about your location and its energy settings.

The Chargers tab shows all chargers in the location; swipe left and right to cycle between chargers.

The Transactions tab shows all charging sessions in the location.

At the top of Overview, the gear icon opens Location settings and the person icon opens your Account.

Overview - Your location

In the Overview tab, you'll find the following, going from top to bottom:

Tap the location name at the top to open the location switcher, which you use to switch between locations.

The house shows your location and the energy flowing to your charger. Below it, Meter shows whether your meter is connected. Tap it to open your meter, or tap Connect a meter if you have none yet.

Don't change your main fuse or meter settings unless your installer asks you to.

Below that, the card of your charger shows whether it is charging. Tap it to open the charger.

Insights into your charging are in the web portal.

Smart Charging

With Smart Charging, we refer to our Power Management technology, which enables load and solar balancing, and our Tariff Management, which lets you charge on dynamic and variable energy tariffs. These settings apply to the whole location, so all chargers at once. Smart Charging needs the Smart license.

Energy mode shows the current mode of the location. Tap it to choose:

Scheduled Charging lets your chargers charge only between the start and end time you set, for example on a day and night tariff.

The Current energy prices card shows the energy prices. Tap it to switch Dynamic Energy Tariffs on or off.

Chargers

The Chargers tab displays your chargers. Swipe left and right to cycle between them. From top to bottom:

Your charger's chargepoint ID is displayed at the top, with the charger status (e.g. available, waiting for power).

Tap the + at the top right to add a charger. This opens Plugchoice Link, which guides you through the steps for your brand.

Authorization shows whether your charger needs a card or the app to start (Card or app) or starts by itself (Autostart). Here you also add and remove cards.

The key button protects your charger against unwanted use with Lock charger.

Start charging starts a session remotely. While the car charges, you can stop the session from the same card, and Charging speed shows how fast it charges.

Settings

Tap Settings on the charger card to reveal:

Don't reconfigure your charger or remove it from the location unless your installer asks you to.

The app shows your charger's firmware version. Firmware updates are done in the web portal.

Transactions

The Transactions tab shows a history of all charging sessions in this location: when, how much, and with which card. To download your transactions, log in to the web portal.

Account settings

On Overview, tap the person icon at the top right to open your Account.

Tap your name to open Account details, where you change your name and email address or delete your account. Your password is changed in the web portal. If you signed up with Google or Apple you have no password; use Forgot password? on the login screen if you want to set one.

Deleting your account does not disconnect your charger. Remove the charger from the location first, or ask support to do it.

Sign out is also in Account. Language and Appearance change the language and look of the app, and Permissions shows which phone permissions the app uses, such as Bluetooth and the camera.

Under Help you find Tours and tips, Frequently asked questions, Contact support and a link to the Web portal.

Location settings

On Overview, tap the gear icon at the top right to open Location settings.

Members shows which teams have access to your location and to what degree. Invite new members or manage their data access here.

Authorization is where you add or remove cards, which can start sessions on all chargers in this location, and switch Autostart on or off.

Edit your address in Location information. Main fuse holds the settings for your main fuse and meter; don't change them unless your installer asks you to.

Change location opens the location switcher. Tap Create a new location to set up a new location or to join a charger with its QR code or Chargepoint ID.
