Commands are instructions that Plugchoice sends to a charger over OCPP. With commands, you can for example:
Restart a charger
Start or stop a transaction
Lock the charger
How to use commands
The everyday commands are buttons in the app and the web portal. The full list of OCPP commands is only in the web portal.
App
App
The app has buttons for the everyday commands:
Restart charger, under Chargers > Settings
Basic commands
In the web portal, open Chargers > [your charger]. These buttons are at the top of the page and on the Overview:
Button | What it does |
Restart | Restarts the charger. It goes offline for a moment, and a session in progress can stop. This does not power cycle the charger, so it's different from physically powering the charger off and on. |
Lock / Unlock | Sets the charger's connectors to unavailable, or available again. See Lock charger. |
Stop transaction | On the Overview, under Current transaction: stops the transaction in progress. To start one remotely, see remotely starting a transaction. |
Advanced commands
The buttons send OCPP commands in the background. You can send OCPP commands yourself under Chargers > [your charger] > Commands: select a command, fill in its parameters and press Execute. A command that can stop charging, restart the charger or cut its connection asks you to confirm first. Diagnostic files are requested with Upload diagnostics; what you get depends on the charger.
The charger must be online, and you need data access to the location.
Plugchoice may limit, block or undo a command that changes how the charger connects to Plugchoice, such as its server address, network or security settings, credentials or certificates, or one that resets it to factory settings. To connect a charger to another backend, contact support.
